SACC Frequently Asked Questions

1. What does SACC stand for?

School Age Child Care

2. Is SACC part of the Branford Public Schools?

Yes, SACC is a fee based service that BPS offers to help support working families

3. What is a vacation day?

Vacation days are days when school is closed and SACC is open 7 am - 6pm, i.e. winter recess and spring vacation.

4. Do I need to sign up for vacation days?

Yes, there is a fee for these days and you must pay the fee and enroll your child two weeks prior to the actual vacation day(s). See your child's site supervisor to sign up.

5. Is SACC open on minimum days?

Yes, no sign up is required and there is no additional fee if your child is regularly scheduled for afterschool that day. Otherwise there is a $20.00 drop in fee for this day. We are open till 6:00 pm

6. How do I know if SACC has a delay, closing early or closed due to the weather?

SACC follows the BPS schedule. If BPS is closed due to weather, SACC will be closed. If it is an activity day, please watch either channel 8 or channel 3 to see if there is a delay, early closing or if SACC is closed.

Since the SACC Program is part of Branford Public Schools, we will follow all notifications made by the School District regarding delays, dismissals and closings. We will NOT make separate notifications specifically for SACC, or contact families individually. Please be sure to have a back-up plan in place with your child's school for early dismissal days. The only exception is when school is already closed for a holiday/vacation. Then you can find our announcements on WTNH & WFSB. Reminder, we also follow the District's schedule for delayed openings for our Before School Programs.

7. How much is the late fee if I pick my child up after 6 pm?

You will be charged $10 for the first 15 minutes and $1 per minute after that. After 6:30 emergency contacts will be called. Three late pickups will result in your child's dismissal from the program.

8.  When does Summer Camp registration open?

Camp registration will be open in March.  Registration forms are available on the Summer Camp Forms link under SACC Program Information.

9.  Do you accept Care4Kids?

Yes we do and for our military families we accept Child Care Aware of America.
